Cape York 2012
Posted by: troopiepete - 07-03-2011, 09:28 PM - Forum: Past trips - Replies (3)

Hi

It's early days yet but I am currently planning a trip to the Cape around June 2012 with the intention of making a Quick trip to the top as direct as possible - then a slow trip back stopping at as many places possible staying in several of them for a few nights, do some fishing, sight seeing and general relaxing where possible.

Currently I have allowed 4 weeks in total for the trip but it may be possible to extend this, even possible to separate and head off in separate directions part way through the trip, some may want to head up to Australia's most easterly island or something like that.

I really have not put any real planning into this yet but it's still over a year away so plenty of time to add ideas and such.

Now all we have to sort out is the weather - if anyone could put a word in it would be appreciated Big Grin

* the trip is currently not listed as an official club trip as it has not been approved by the board yet, either way it will be happening.

Posted by: troopiepete - 01-03-2011, 11:03 AM - Forum: Past trips - Replies (2)

Hi

This is restricted trip with a max of 8 cars Victor Leading; it will be taking us into restricted access areas.

Meet us at the Beaudesert - Hungary Jacks - Departing at 8am
Normally when we meet at such places some of us have our Breakfast there, so feel free to join us but ensure you get there by at least 7:30am so you can eat in comfort.

March meeting:
During the Trip we will be holding the March meeting - hence no meeting at the club rooms

About the trip:
We are planning on travelling into areas that normally you would not have access to, needles to say we have permission and the required keys to visit several un-used trails and camp in an area that is remote and isolated.

If you wish to join us please drop me a line - President@rivercity4wdclub.net
Or post your interest on this forum - but remember you need to register first.

What is the River City 4WD Club about
Posted by: troopiepete - 19-02-2011, 12:14 AM - Forum: General public info - No Replies

Several years ago the River City 4WD Club celebrated our 20th anniversary of 4WDing in Brisbane. This milestone has seen many changes to club membership with great memories from our oldest members to new ideas from our new members. We currently enjoy day and weekend camping trips and being family orientated ensures a trip each month to satisfy young and old.

As most of our members rely on our vehicles for weekly use (be it work or pleasure) our planned trips are mostly in the easy to hard categories. This allows lots of social activity and interaction with a just a bit of difficult 4 wheel driving. We are very supportive of each other to make sure that our vehicles get home together in good working condition.

Our focus is for all members to contribute and participate in activities using our pride n joy with our families and friends. Being part of our club is definitely a good way to see exciting places in good company. Our main rule is that we look after each other and our environment.

A motto that we have adopted is that our club will always try to tread softly so as to not destroy the tracks and the environment.

Look forward to seeing you at our next meeting so we can get to know each other.
