  Corners of Queensland
Posted by: Benjam - 10-01-2017, 11:09 AM - Forum: General chat - Replies (5)

Morning All,

This is a question for the experts.

I am planning a trip to Western Queensland in two vehicles. The first is a Navara D22 decked out for 4WD, with A/T tyres, winch, snap straps and recovery gear, etc.

The second is still undecided. Currently, I drive a Hyundai Santa FE Diesel. It is a good AWD large SUV. So far, it does all I need.

The question is this: Will it go to the 'Corners', particularly if there is a 4WD capable vehicle in company?

I would rather not hire, and purchasing a second 4WD is not an option at present. If my current car is do-able, I would be very happy.

However, I don't want to be the dude on the news getting rescued because of poor planning or stupidity.

Any guidance out there?

Hi Everyone.
Camping trip to Teewah Beach. (either camping directly on the beach in one of the designated camping zones or one of the surrounding areas, ie, Freshwater campground).

Saturday 25th Feb to 26th Feb.

Beach permits will be required as will camping permits.
Check the link below for information on camping at either Teewah Beach or Freshwater.
Please note that camping on the beach provides no facilities, whereas camping at Freshwater has designated camp spots and toilet and shower facilities close by for convenience.

For anyone that is still interested in doing this trip, I would suggest a meeting point of the twin BP's at Morayfield at 8am for an 8.30am leave time.

Hi everyone.

Just considering getting into 4WD. My son is getting into it and I am doing my research too.

It seems like a fun time and welcoming community.

Kind regards to all.

Well, not new to clubs or 4wding....g'day, I'm doc (Adrian) and partner is Zinta. I've come across from WA where I spent a lot of time in the desert exploring. Previously from Victoria where I cut my teeth 4wding in the high country. I was vice chairman of the WA4WDA and committee member in the western patrol club. Yes I have a patrol. It's a 2005 ST 4.2 which I've owned from new. Extremely modified and now a 4door ute.
Was introduced by troopie pete whom I've known for a while now (originally from the overlander forum).
More about the truck and us later.

  20170126 Australia Day long weekend
Posted by: White Bush Pig - 15-11-2016, 08:43 PM - Forum: Past trips - Replies (4)

Hi everyone.
I was advised today by Paul Burgess that he and his family have made a booking to stay at Borumba Dam for the Australia day long weekend. This is the same location as our Xmas party last year - Imbil.
In 2017 Australia day falls on a Thursday so if you are planning on getting away be sure to book in for the Friday off work.
This is a great location with a creek close by for swimming and some fantastic 4wd tracks to go exploring.
If you are interested in going on this trip be sure to book in early as no doubt it might be a popular choice for the long weekend.

Big Red Bash 3rd to 5Th July 2017

I am going to try and go next year - possibly Narelle too..
Should find out in a few days if he time if available  Angel

If you like the outback, music and crowds then this could be the event for you!
I am looking at booking two weeks possibly setting off after work on Friday 30th or very early on the 1st
Clear object is to get to Birdsville early.. stay for the bash then head south to do Innaminka, Camerons and a few places on the way home as Narelle has not seen these..

This is currently listed as a non club trip but could become one if enough members are interested.
