The History of the Canning Stock Route
Hi this is an audio podcast that you can listen to about the history of WA's Canning Stock route, very informative in a layback style and thus easy to listen to and enjoy
  • Story of being bogged for days on end and then just driving out after the ground was just custard with the rain days before
  • 1800+km Route which was laid in 1910 to drive cattle to market free of charge but was an early disaster due to??
  • the driving route follows the dune hollows and crosses the low points where possible so is 200kms more than the stock route
  • aboriginal issues throughout the early days brought about a Royal Commission
  • was in use until 1959 and became a part of the II WWar effort strategy
