20200814 Sundown NP winter camp
Proposed trip out to Sundown National Park for a winter camp out over the EKKA long weekend.

Friday 14th August (EKKA public holiday) through to Sunday 16th August.

Meeting point: 8am PUMA service station Aratula for an 8.30am leave time.

UHF channel 58.

Requirements: Good quality All Terrain / Mud tyres as it is very rocky and punctures can be a possibility. Recovery gear as standard. Warm clothing!!

Sundown NP is a fantastic place to explore if you have never been there but is still great even if you HAVE been before!  Big Grin  I'm really looking forward to going back (hopefully it isn't too crowded being a long weekend).   Undecided

Actual campsite may change on the day if there are too many other campers in one location. Please note that our usual campsites are not suitable for caravans.

Let us know ASAP if you are thinking of joining this trip or joining on a different day as a plan may need to be made beforehand as there is no phone coverage for contact once inside the park.

RE: 20200814 Sundown NP winter camp
MUSTARD - Very KEEN for this trip, I have couple of questions for you.
  • Do we require 4wd permit?
  • Which campsite does the club usually book?
  • If a booking is required, do we do this as individuals or a club booking?
  • Do we require camping permit?
  • What limits/restrictions are on campsites?
  • Do we follow current COVID-19 social distancing policy?
  • Is anyone planning on bringing other family or is this really a blokes only trip? (I don't own Chaps).
If i can think of any other questions, I'll definitely be asking  Big Grin

In relation to the questions posed by OzdaddyO:
  • Do we require 4wd permit?
    - Dedicated 4WD permit not required as park is 4WD access only anyway.
  • Which campsite does the club usually book?
    - For booking purposes, initial campsite will be Burrows Waterhole.
  • If a booking is required, do we do this as individuals or a club booking?
    - Book individually. Single booking sites can have a max of (3) vehicle and (6) people. Prices are $6.75 per person / per night. Family rate is $27 and consists of (2) adults and (6) children under the age of 18 (total of 8 people).
  • Do we require camping permit?
    - Yes, see above.
  • What limits/restrictions are on campsites?
    - For single site booking see above, though best to check on the website when making your booking.
  • Do we follow current COVID-19 social distancing policy?
    - Social distancing practices are still recommended at this time.
  • Is anyone planning on bringing other family or is this really a blokes only trip? (I don't own Chaps).
    - I believe there may be some ladies planning on attending this trip.

RE: 20200814 Sundown NP winter camp
Thanks for that info Kris,

I'm all booked in and raring to go.

Currently I have 4 adults and two under 18, I'm not sure if they can all make it. If they can, would someone with a great sense of humor be willing to take a couple of my "Adult" children and I use the term "Adult" as an interpretation not fact.

Can't wait to get those tyres dirty.

This the campsite availability current as of 11:05PM 20/07/2020
